Stephanie DeArmond

Stephanie DeArmond makes ceramic sculpture and installations that combine the honesty of traditional craft and its methods with a sly humor that places her work in a thoroughly contemporary context

Marian Bantjes

This year Marian Bantjes created these for Saks Fifth Avenue, for Valentine’s Day. It contains a number of hidden words related to the occasion.

TOKO

Multidisciplinary design studio, Toko, was established in 2001 in Rotterdam and is now operating out of Sydney, where it relocated in the beginning of 2006 to pursue new (geo)graphic adventures. They have a great collection of work well worth checking out.

Paula Scher

It seems a bit ironic that Paula Scher began her career as an illustrator but has received the greatest recognition for her use of typography. As an art director at Atlantic and CBS Records in the 1970s, she created numerous album covers with strong graphic and typographic designs, eschewing the genre's dominant and conventional uses of photography and illustration. Today she is a partner in Pentagram's New York office producing identities, posters, exhibition designs, and the like for such organizations as the Public Theater of New York, the Lincoln Center Jazz programs, the American Museum of Natural History, and Herman Miller. She has drawn inspiration from a diverse range of historical design, which she admires for its emotional resonance and appeal to contemporary audiences. When she says "I'd rather be the Beatles than Philip Glass," she acknowledges her own characterization as a "Pop designer."

Music in the mountains is a classical music event which is a one week event which takes place in Granada, Spain every year.

The Spanish culture is very vibrant and has an arabic influence which is what my design was influnced by.

This was my entry:

HSBC advertising

I love these clever adverts from HSBC they are displayed on Heathrow airport as you get off the plane. Especially when coming from a distant place, people are very aware of Language, Meaning and Context.
