Laptop Packaging
I thought the idea behind this laptop packaging was very new and had a contemporary look it it! i wish my mac came in this kind of package!

Pancake & Franks designs are fresh and unique. Their originality is due to the simplicity of their work. There use of one or two colours on the stock printed makes design stand out.

This is something i found when i was researching when i was looking for wedding invitatations for inspiration. I think the idea of using the same font to write both the bride and grooms name with a slight twitch is very clever.

Evaluation
Through this module I have developed my understanding in the colour, CMYK, RGB, spot-colour, monotone, duotone and greyscale and the print production processes, lithography, flexography and rotogravure in full detail. I have constantly been researching and evaluating all my findings when doing my research and applying these practices and relating it to my work.
For my research I looked quiet deep into my subject area. I looked at the physcology and also why people do it. I produced questionnaires and also went out to look for found examples to help me look at existing material and how I could make mine look different or have a different take on whats already out there.
I did a lot of development through photography, stamp printing, paper stocks, fonts and making mock ups regularly to see what my design would look like when it is in context. Having something on screen of printed out flat isn’t a good way to visualise something.
My strengths throughout my project was the ‘doing’. Making my card and gift wrap package to a professional level (well more or less) was an achievement as my research into processes helped me to understand how and why designers have made certain decisions throughout the history of card and gift-wrap. Making decisions was probably my strength aswell as I found in my projects last year I was alaways contemplating and looking at a few design when the key is to look at one and push it and develop it until you’re happy with the design.
My weaknesses are pushing my projects to the limit. I could have also looked into where else my design could be used rather than keeping this within the boundaries of card shops and gift stationary places.
If I was to do my project again I would look at pushing my project to the furthest it could possibly go. I would look at where else my design could be published and where people are going to view it.
Overall I was very pleased with my outcome, with the help of my research, development and evaluations throughout my project I feel like I have produced some good work that will hopefully get some kind of reaction out of my audience. Hope they make you smile!

My initial ideas
Theres were my initial swear card ideas. After producing these i found i was putting a swear in for the sake of it and these were very similar to the david morris cards which i had found before. So..
..I looked at having a more interactive card where you have an option to personalise your card and choose weather you want to have a swear or be subtle.
I also thought about having 2 versions and looked at how a common person would swear and how a posh person would swear just to show the comparasions.
I felt like my designs werent strong enough and decided to take my project down a different route. This was a big turning point for me.
I decided to take rude phrases and put them into context for different occasions. For e.g Suck me > picture of a dummy > valentines day. I know this is probablly not something i would like to recieve on valentines day but when you see the dummy, it becomes funny as you can see the joke. These were my mock ups, experimenting with different paper stocks.

Swear designs
My experiments with different typefaces to see what swearwords would like like in a variety of fonts rather than swear words being seen in bold text.
